Happy 4th of July!!!! Today is my favorite holiday of the year. Not because I'm particularly patriotic. I think I love it because it falls in the summer, you aren't obligated to buy gifts for anyone, and it's an entire day filled with eating things I love: pancakes, sno-cones, watermelon, hamburgers, and ice cream-all of which rank in my top 10 of favorite foods! Plus, you cap the day off with fireworks...how much better can it get?!?! We won't go to a parade today or any of those other normal 4th traditions; for one thing it's just too stinkin' hot and one of Jeremy's buddies is staying with us for a few days while he recovers from a compound fracture of his lower left leg (long story, but he avoided wrecking his motorcycle and hurting himself even worse by hitting a highway sign with his leg). But, I did fix pancakes for breakfast (and French toast for Jeremy 'cause he doesn't like pancakes) and for dinner tonight we'll have potato salad, corn on the cob, cucumbers and tomatoes, and sloppy joes. And then as we watch the fireworks we can all have some ice cream! Should be a good day!Jeremy tells me that from our driveway we can see the fireworks shows in Lawton (to the north about 10 miles), Geronimo (to the east about 1 mile), and Walters (to the south about 10 miles). Geronimo did a little testing of theirs last night, and it was pretty nice!
Oh yeah, I no longer believe the baby is coming on Sunday...Jeremy doesn't have 24-hour duty now 'cause he drove to Wichita, KS to pick-up his buddy and bring him back here last night. So, it's anybody's guess as to when she'll arrive!
