Party time

I decided to put my pride aside and do a party that Kyra would truly enjoy and not worry about what anyone else thought. So, we had a party that consisted of cupcakes, homemade ice cream (my dad makes the BEST ice cream), and french fries. And that was it. I had iced tea and lemonade to drink and Thomas juice (apple juice in Thomas containers) for those wanted that. I think it turned out perfect for Kyra, and that's all that matters!

The cupcake, juice, and Thomas Party Hat centerpiece...

The final touch, cupcakes, juice, Thomas Party Hats, surrounded by French Fries! Does it get any better? I don't think so, at least not in Kyra's eyes!

Kyra's birthday

Birthday morning...getting a cinnamon biscuit on a special thing that turns and plays happy birthday

She went to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo with my parents on her birthday! She was very excited to see the hippos, but loved the otters best and thought the monkeys smelled.

We had her party today (the day after her actual bday) and I put her to work. She L-O-V-E-S cleaning the toilet!

conversations with Kyra

Last night after dinner Kyra, Liam, Hokey, and I went for a walk just as we do most nights. Kyra is quite the chatter box and talks the whole time. She tells me how she's going to jump on the trees; she asks where the catepillar went (we saw one once about a month ago) and tells me it went to its house; as we get closer to the park she wants to know where the kids are and if they'll be there to play with her; she tells me all the cars, trucks, SUZs (her word for SUVs), and camp trailers we see and what color they are (she now knows: blue, orange, yellow, green, red, pink, and purple).

One of the many conversations we had last night went something like this:

Kyra: Moon needs mimi (what she calls her pacifier) I sink mommy!

Me: Why does the moon need a mimi Kyra?

Kyra: So it can go nigh night!

Kyra got a haircut!

Kyra got her 1st haircut today. She is way too wiggly and has way too much hair for me to attempt to do it on my own, so we went and had it cut. I think it looks pretty darn cute! Hopefully it'll make bathtime less of a struggle and it should stay out of her eyes a little better.

missing pics

You'll recall a couple weeks ago I lost the memory card for my camera. I found it. At the bottom of the dryer. Apparently washing and drying it doesn't do any real damage! Here are a few of my faves from it!

owie, cheerios, sweet

On Tuesday, Kyra fell off one of our dining room chairs (and they're tall 'cause we have a high top table). She landed on her mouth. This pic shows what her lip looks like, but her gums are all swollen around her teeth and the underneath side of her lip looked like raw meat for a few days. She's better now and was back to climbing on the chairs within a few hours.

I've given Liam cheerios a few times, so far all he does is gag on them. Not impressed. I think he's waiting for steak.

So cute, and so big! Now that he can sit up that's all he wants to do, and he's quite good at it. I'm afraid he's going to be a real handful once he gets mobile, 'cause he's already into everything he can get his hands on. I've informed him he's not allowed to crawl or walk 'til he's 3. We'll see how good of a listener he is!

pigtails, sitting up, and choices

Say "cheese!"

My 3 rugrats entertaining each other (Hokey got a haircut this weekend, looks pretty funny, but should be cooler and result in less sticks attached to him)

Sitting up like the big boy he is! Jessie (the cat) LOVES him. It's a bit strange. She didn't care much for Kyra, they have a bit of a love hate relationship to this day. But, she gets in bed with William and always wants to be around him. When Kyra was his size she avoided her like the plague.

I've been having trouble getting Kyra to sleep in her own bed for the last few months. I'm sure it's because of all the turmoil that's been going on in our lives. She just wants to be close to me at all times, especially at night. So, in an attempt to get her back to sleeping in her own bed, I told her she could pick out new sheets and a comforter for her bed. After going to 3 stores and having her adamantly turn down all options I presented, she found this one yesterday and was in LOVE. I tried to convince her that the ones with flowers or stripes or circles were really cute. I even tried to show her how cool the ones with baseballs, footballs, and basketballs was. But, alas, no. The one she really wanted was this one. I am now learning to live with the consequences of giving an almost 2 year-old her choice of bedding :)

In other news, Jeremy's disability decision finally came. Well, the unofficial decision came, but the one with the official seal should be arriving any day. He has received the rating we were hoping for. YEA! We're still trying to figure out all the benefits that it entitles him to, the benefits the kids and I will receive, if he can work and if so how much he can work, and everything else that comes along with it. We're hoping (and we think) it means that we all have health insurance coverage; we think it means the kids' college education will be paid; it possibly means I could go back to school too; we think Jeremy can get college and/or vocational rehab; and we think it means we receive base privileges (like using the commissary, PX, etc). Some MAJOR benefits to say the least!

time in Mommo and PopPop's mountain house

I was in the middle of cleaning house on Monday when I decided the mountains were calling me. So, I quickly packed us up and away we headed to my folks' cabin. We were supposed to come home on Thursday afternoon, but I couldn't get motivated to leave 'til Friday morning. Here are a few pics, for some reason I don't have any of the kids or me outside. Next time the mountains call louder than a dirty house, laundry, and groceries I'll be sure to get some outdoor pics. I'm sure you won't have to wait long :)

Bathing

Kyra uses this as her personal outhouse. She goes in. She poops. She comes out. Hilarious!

4th of July Parade

Just chillin'

Hangin' with Mamy

Watchin' the parade and trying to stay dry. The parade is basically one giant water fight....Kyra wasn't too sure about it, but she decided it was pretty fun to stand in the back of Pappy's truck and get wet!

crazy, messy, clean

Liam had some F-U-N-K-Y hair when he woke-up this morning...

Add some cereal, apples, and apricots to the mix and we have one messy boy with crazy hair!

But, he cleans up well!

conversation with Kyra

Kyra was a grump this morning. That's definitely not typical for her, but she got to sleep really late last night thanks to the fireworks going off until late. So, she was very whiney this morning. When she got in the car I hoped she'd take a little nap, but the whining just continued. But, she still managed to crack me up....Here's a piece of our conversation today:

Kyra: where going Mommy?
Me: To the store to buy flag t-shirts for all of us and then to the grocery store.
Kyra: No gocey sto!
Me: We need to go to the grocery store to buy chips for Granny. [we're going to Granny's for a bbq tomorrow and were asked to bring the chips]
Kyra: No mommy! Ganny full, Kywa need chips!!!!

I'm a bit concerned that she's not two yet and she a) already loves chips and french fries above all other things and b)that she has the "logic" to say that Granny doesn't need chips 'cause she's full...

On a separate note, I lost the memory card to my camera this week. Fortunately I had most of the pics saved to my laptop already, but I don't have any off the camera from our time in the mountains earlier this week or from our trip to the zoo with my cousin's little girl. I'll "steal" some pics from my mom of the mountains...
