leaving Oklahoma

I've lived here in Geronimo for a little over a year now. Tonight is my last night here as we're leaving in the morning for Colorado and Kyra and I won't be coming back with Jeremy 'cause I don't want to make the long drive again in just a couple weeks. While I'm very excited to be moving closer to some of our family and friends, I find myself a little sad too. I know I usually complain about where we live, but there are some upsides to it and I thought I'd post those today (plus it gives me an excuse to procrastinate starting the laundry and packing that I should be doing right now)....

1). I love that we are surrounded by fields. It is so quiet out here!
2). I love that we have two ponds within 50ft of the front door, it's been great for cooling the dogs off on those hot summer days
3) I love that the ponds have turtles and frogs that jump and splash when we walk by
4) I love our landlord. He's an old farmer who has truly treated Jeremy and I as if we were his grandkids. Never intrusive, but always here when we need him. Likes to laugh and give us a hard time. And whenever I see him he always makes me smile!
5). I love the sunsets. No, they aren't the same as the sun setting behind the Rockies, but they are gorgeous in their own right!!!
6). I love that once the sun goes down we can see lots and lots of stars!
7). I love that for a few months out of the year there were cows grazing in "our" fields. Who knew watching cows could be so entertaining????

And last, but certainly not least, Geronimo will always be the first home that Jeremy and I shared and where Kyra was born. So as podunk as it might be, it will always hold a very special place in my heart!!!

OK, enough sentimentality (is that a real word?), time to start the laundry and the packing...

Best of luck with your drive north! I know exactly what you mean about missing a few things in Oklahoma. Steve and I were a bit sad on our last night in our empty appt in Lawton because it was our first place together too.
BTW - your new home looks so cute!
