I haven't been ignoring my blog, I've just had a few impediments to blogging....
I had a nasty sinus infection that was followed shortly by a weird stomach bug.
Mr. Liam had to have a little surgery. Without going into all the gorey details, he wasn't able to be circumcised at birth and it was medically necessary for him to have it done as well as a few other things. So, he had that done last week. He's recovered like a champ! By the evening after his surgery he was up and playing and hasn't acted like it bothered him much. His biggest complaint seems to be that it takes a bit longer to change his diaper while he heals. He's also trying to get a couple more teeth...
Kyra started potty training yesterday. So far it's going well. She had 2 accidents yesterday, but once I was on the phone and didn't take her on time and the other she was playing outside and forgot to take a break and come inside to go potty.
As you know, I've been having computer problems. Well, a couple weeks ago I started having modem problems too. So, if I have internet access, it only lasts for a few minutes and then it's gone for 12+ hours.
OK, I started this post on Tuesday, it's now Friday...My modem died in the middle of typing before and wouldn't let me on long enough to finish. Good news though, a new modem came last night (just about an hour before my fantasy baseball draft~excellent timing!). So, now I won't get kicked off quite so frequently...
Potty training continues to go very well. She's only had about 1 accident a day and most of the time it's either because I'm distracted (you know, I do have to shower on occassion) or because she gets busy playing. I'm really happy I waited 'til now 'cause it's gone quite easily (the other time I tried to work on it a couple months ago, she had a major meltdown each time she had an accident). And, amazingly, she hasn't had an accident during her naps and while I put a diaper on her for night, each morning it's been dry!!!

a few recents
My good friend and her sweet girl came to visit us last weekend. We couldn't all fit in my car so we borrowed my mom's. Liam got to be the cheese between his sister and sweet A! I think he loved every minute of it!!!
He fell and took a chunk out of the side of his nose. I can't get him to stay still long enough to get a good pic, but he could definitely be Rudolph. He doesn't act like it hurts too bad anymore...

I clean because...
...I feel better knowing that whatever tasty morsel Liam just picked-up off the floor and put in his mouth only has dirt that is a few days old on it
...I am a mom and society expects me to spend a significant portion of my time cleaning
...I don't want to be shown-up by the babysitter who comes twice a week for 4 hours and always leaves the house looking spiffier than when she got here
...The noise of the vacuum drowns out the sound of whining, screaming, and crying
...It is cheaper to wash socks and underwear than buying new
...We run out of clean spoons every 24 hours
...I don't want to scare the mailman/UPS man/FedEx lady off from delivering packages to our house (though, it'd be nice to scare off the solicitors and Jehovah's Witnesses who always seem to ring the doorbell and make the dog bark just as the kids have fallen asleep, thus, waking everyone up and making me extra grouchy)
...It's a way to burn some calories
I needed a few reminders :)

Look who got a haircut!
Liam's had a few haircuts. His hair was getting shaggy (see posts below for evidency of shagginess). I didn't feel like paying $15 at SuperCuts, so I took him to the barber just up the street (he only charges $9). Gene has been a barber for 55 years. When I told him I wanted Liam's hair a little shorter and in a standard boy's cut, I should've kept the whole "been a barber for 55 years in mind." His hair is MUCH shorter than I wanted it to be, but it still looks cute, how could he not look cute?!?! I found the whole thing so funny!!! I had the hardest time getting the kids in their carseats 'cause I was laughing so hard!

tonight's conversation with Kyra
a little background....Jeremy's mom fell on some ice and broke her knee cap a couple weeks ago (can you say ouch?)....Around the same time, Kyra fell while we were walking by the zoo and scraped her knee....anyway, it's been much talked about around here...Here's how tonight's conversation went:
Kyra: Mamaw fell boke her knee!
Me: I know, poor Mamaw...
Kyra: I fell boke my knee
Me: No, you fell and scraped your knee
Kyra: And animals pick me up
Me: Animals picked you up? I thought I picked you up...
Kyra: No, the giwaffe did [side note: there are no giraffes at our zoo]
Me, trying very hard not to laugh: Ohh...well, that was nice of them
Kyra: Yeah, and they take me to play cards with Mamaw and Yibby
Me: Oh
Kyra: Rumble toots not stinky! [rumble toots=gas, in case you didn't gather that]
Me: Sometimes they are
Kyra: Not when you rumble toot in bed!
How her little brain works is beyond me, but it sure is amusing to be a part of!

snow day
How do you spend snow days? Or, days when it's just too cold to go outside?

Kyra was eating snow off Hokey, so I decided to go get a cup of it for her to eat. Had to be cleaner than dog snow right?

Later, she was dying to build a Hiro (Thomas the tank engine character) out of snow. So, I got her a plate of snow. She put her mittens on a little after this pic.
