I bookend my days in pretty much the same manner. The alarm goes off (usually that alarm is the dog, but occasionally it's the alarm clock on my phone). I get up. Let the dogs out. Refill the humidifier. Spend the next 40 minutes on the Wii Fit. Start the water for my coffee. Get Kyra out of bed. Get Kyra fed. Drink my coffee. Get showered and dressed and on with the rest of my day. My day ends with nearly as much routine. Get home from tutoring. Get Kyra fed. Take the dogs and Kyra for a walk. Get myself fed. Get Kyra bathed, pajamed, formulaed and into bed. Watch a little tv and wait for Jeremy to get home from work so I can go to bed.
Today my bookends were completely out of whack. Kyra was awake when I stumbled out of my room to head downstairs (an hour early for her). I let the dogs out and they proceeded to spill their food and water all over the place. After trying to placate Kyra with her exersaucer and then her booster chair with yummy puffs, I gave up the exercising and started my coffee and got her her cereal. When my back was turned to get a paper towel, I heard a loud crash. Kyra had pulled her bib that my coffee was sitting on off the table. She then proceeded to dip her bib like a cookie in the coffee that filled her booster tray and suck, suck, suck away. The dogs are lapping up as much of it off the floor as they possibly can. All the while the only thoughts running through my head are, "I don't think I can handle two dogs and a baby all hyped up on caffeine today." Shortly after the mess was cleaned I woke Jeremy and told him he was in charge of the dogs and Kyra.
This evening was running as planned until it was time to get Kyra out of her bath. She loves her bath. Would stay in there 'til the water evaporated if I let her. Tonight I left her in a few minutes too long...Let's just say that she could have easily made several dozen mud pies. She hasn't done that to me since she was about 2 weeks old. I have to confess, the thought did cross my mind more than once to just close the bathroom door, wait 'til Jeremy got home and have him clean it. But, I didn't. I cleaned it up and started laundry.
Surely tomorrow's bookends will be better than today's.........
